Genuine Shell Cordovan is the art of tanning at its finest. The oval shaped shells from a specif area of a horsehide are tanned, stuffed, shaved, and polished in a process taking, at least, six months. Each shell is steeped in gentle vegetable liquors, hot stuffed and then slicked onto glass frames to dry. Each shell is hand curried and shaved by skilled artisans to expose the shell. Dyes are hand rubbed on for a deep aniline finish and, finally, the shells are hand glazed to achieve a rich, glossy look and feel.
Our wallets are made from a single pattern folded and hand-stitched. This is no exception in our Cordovan Series, where the entire wallet is made of Horween Shell Cordovan (the inside, the outside, what you see and what you don't see).
Due to the particularities of this leather and its production process, shells and colour availability are very limited.
